What is value? Value is a basic element of art that refers to the gradual change of lightness or darkness of a color. It is created when a light source shines upon an object creating highlights, form shadows and cast shadows.

LAYERS OF VALUE
Big Idea:
Create a 4+layer abstract design with an illusion of depth by applying different values. Think of a stack of 4 sheets of paper with large cutouts and each sheet (layer) creates its own drop shadow, each layer is slightly darker in value as you go from the top to the bottom.
