ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:
1. How might sustainable living and creating an eco-friendly sculpture from re-purposed materials relate to human nature?
2. What might be the outcome of using re-purposed materials in art projects and beyond?
KEY KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING:
- Assemble a found object sculpture (as assemblage) or mixed media two-dimensional composition that reflects unity and harmony and communicates a theme.
- Learn about artists and representations of art from around the world and also local artist Anne Cubberly.
- Represent personal power and meaning while learning that the simplest tools and resources can create mask-tastic creations and more.
- Discover sustainability through recycled/re-purposed materials. (How might you make a difference?)
DESIGN PROCESS:
- Recognize the task at hand: Come up with a theme. What are you going to make? A Robot? Spacecraft? Airplane? A mask? An animal? Etc…
- Create a blueprint of your ideas. You can come up with more than one idea. Combine words on the paper for further detail. Place in your notebook.
- Gather your materials: What do you need to build? Metal, plastic, wire, fasteners, etc.
- Begin your build: Take care and time and be safe with sharp materials and tools. Collaborate.
- Revise: Make necessary alterations when needed and think to yourself, how can I continue to make it better?
- Display final product to an Audience: Did you succeed at task? Is the product ready to present to an audience? Did you alter your materials to represent a theme and is your theme communicated?
